Stopping Dog Barking-Top Tips On Stopping Dog Barking

When trying to stop dog barking it is really important to understand the reason behind dog's barking. Barking is a way of communication for dogs. People talk, dogs bark. Excessive barking however needs to be addressed. Dogs bark for a lot of reasons; for attention, because they are excited, they want to play, they want attention, they are anxious, they are scared or maybe they are hungry/thirsty or they could just need to use the bathroom (not literally of course)!
Unfortunately, no matter what the reason is for a dog barking, to human ears barking is simply annoying and not necessary. Getting a dog to stop barking can be a pretty daunting task; however, with correct training program it can be greatly reduced.
You would certainly not want your dog to stop barking when they need to alert you of some danger. Rather you would want your dog to stop barking at your friends, the mailman, passersbys etc. Before you begin training your dog to start barking, you need to understand the fact that a dog cannot be stopped from barking completely, so our aim here is not how to stop dog barking but rather stopping dog from barking excessively.
Mentioned below are some top tips on stopping dog barking-:
1 – Use a clean squirt gun to squirt some water on him when he is barking.
2 – Roll up a newspaper and hit it on your palm, the noise produced will usually work to calm the dog, however, this technique only works with puppies.
3 – Say "NO" to your dog when you want him to stop barking. Be firm and strong but do not yell.
4 – Reward your dog with a treat when he obeys your command to stop barking.
