My dog Cody --suffers from depression only when his collar or harness is on him, what do i do?
Cody suffers from depression any time we put his collar on..he wont move literally stays in one spot, no eating drinking nothing just keeps his head down 
I have no idea why..then someone said to try a harness and we did ...even worse I don't understand we even flashed pork bones in his face and he wouldn't budge i am starting to feel helpless i have to put him on the leash or harness now because he started running from me he is now 17 months ...when we do put it on him and take him out he will not use the bathroom either.. i have no idea what to do. BUT as soon as we take it off he zips away and runs like there was never anything wrong with him..we take it off in the house bc like i said he will not eat or move or drink so i get worried ..how do i help him? do you think someone hurt him?
Your dog is not use to the leash, so he does whatever it takes to get you to take it off of him. The sooner you start with leash training the better, but you can still train him. It just takes time and patience. Make it seem like a game, or even put it on him inside and just let him wander around with it on, to get him used to having it on. Or act like it's a game, encourage him to come to you then reward him with a treat. Dogs are smart animals. I've had dogs who would act like they were choking, even coughing and wheezing to try to get me to take the leash off. Trust me, the leash was plenty loose, they just wanted it off. So, be patient, persistent and most important of all more stubborn than your dog. Best of luck to you and your dog!
