Swimming Pool Enclosures can play an effective role in providing safety and security for your pool. Owning your own pool is great, but requires you take in some level of responsibility for security.
In many countries including the UK, responsibility for safety and security your pool is yours alone, so you need to know how to be prepared and prevent accidents. And although there is no legislation in the United Kingdom forces pool owners to take precautions, it is clear that you must make sure your pool is not safe, only for his family but also for friends and clients, especially if your home is rented.
However, in France the situation is very different, by law must provide an effective safety barrier for your pool, or face to a heavy fine. The options for doing this ranging from installing a pool alarm, through fences outside the pool, and also by installing a pool with the pool enclosure lock. And while the enclosure is the most expensive option, it does also offer many other valuable benefits.
The facts on pool safety
There is little in the way of the recently published data on safety in swimming pools. But here is a quick summary of some key findings of a research conducted in the U.S..
Each year in the U.S., more than three hundred children under five, drown in residential swimming pools, usually owned by his family. And besides this, more than two thousand children in the same group age are treated for submersion injuries.
Another piece of research provided the following statistics; Seventy-five percent of victims immersion were between one and three years. And the group, sixty-five percent were male. Also within the group is identified that young children in particular were a high risk group, because you can often do something unexpected and their ability to change daily.
A somewhat surprising addition to this was that sixty five per cent of children are not even expected to be on or in the pool, however, are still there.
Of all accidents, sixty-five percent occurred in a pool owned by the family of the child, and thirty-five percent occurred in a pool owned by friends or relatives.
The thing about pool submersions involving children is that they happen quickly. It is possible that a child can drown in the time it takes to make a quick call phone. Indeed seventy five percent of road accident victims had been out of sight for only five minutes or less.
Swimming pool enclosures and alarms
Ensure your pool
Your pool should always be safe, if not in use. At a minimum you should install a pool alarm. These simple devices work in a number of ways, but probably the most common is the type of pressure sensor. Good of them is likely to cost around two hundred pounds – that are easy to install on the edge of the pool and, subsequently, require little maintenance, and probably a battery change once a year. This may be even less frequently if you go for solar energy.
As an alternative, particularly younger children and those just starting to walk, you should consider the type personal alarm bracelet. These, simple wireless devices, easy to connect securely around the wrist of your child (or pet's collar). So if the wristband is submerged in water, a 100db alarm immediately goes to the base station. The base station alarms for these work out of a rechargeable battery, so they are fully portable, and hence for taking a vacation, or for friends of the houses or on a riverboat, sea or a lake.
The next level of security that could be considered is a barrier of some kind. There are three possible options for this. An indoor pool fixed or winter cover, a fenced pool surround, or, finally, an enclosure of the pool.
Of the three options above, the enclosure of the pool is probably the most expensive. However, if one considers all the other benefits of the pool enclosure has, it seems that the site would come to the head. This will help water heating your pool, maintain aa debris, reduce chemical use and evaporation, and if the heat of your pool, it means you can use your pool throughout the year. And keep it safe and secure.
